Recently my parents' laptop was stricken with a bad virus. Upon investigation I discovered they were using IE, and McAfee.

I'm not going to claim Norton is the best antivirus ever. It's big clunky and dumb and occasionally roughs up legit software. It is good at killing viruses though. As opposed to McAfee, which is basically a vice cop that started dealing drugs.

I also have a paid norton subscription which meant I was able to put it on my parents computer at zero charge. McAfee was removed with extreme prejudice, and Norton wasn't even done updating yet before it was flagging trojans for removal. End result: over 40 pieces of yick removed, about half of which were bad, bad stuff.

I have no idea how my parents do this to new computers.
